Life Cycle
Assessment
Environmental life cycle assessment, commonly referred to simply as life cycle assessment (LCA),
is a method of accounting for the environmental impacts - including all externalities - of a product,
service, or process over the course of its life cycle. Life cycle assessment, in concert with
life cycle cost analysis, offers a powerful tool in maximizing
environmental effectiveness and economic efficiency.
EDC can engage you in a holistic or targeted LCA of your existing or planned process, product,
facility, or operations to identify, manage, and prevent economic, environmental, and human health
impacts from affecting you and those you serve. For water resource infrastructure, management and
treatment, EDC staff represent the leading edge of LCA research.
