Chai Pond
Residential pond owners hired the EDC engineers to design and build a wind-powered aerated
constructed wetland pond restoration system on a small private pond in northern Michigan.
The wetland restorer consists of a floating bed of indigenous plants and bacterium which will
eat excess nutrients existing in the pond while adding to the beauty of the landscape.
The welcoming owners opened up their land and home so our staff could host a fun pond
restoration workshop open to the public. The workshop was designed to inform participants about
alternatives to chemical water treatments as well as onsite power generation for aeration.
The owners paid for the project materials and the workshop attendees help pay for the installation.
It was a win/win!!
