Hostel in the
Forest

The EDC designed and provided construction oversight of a wastewater treatment and nutrient reclamation system for the hostel's kitchen facilities. The system employs a subsurface flow constructed wetland for treatment and branched drain for disposal of water not reused. The wetland is planted with water and shade tolerant edible plants species. The success of the edible plant species will be documented for future greywater nutrient to food conversion projects. Additionally, the Hostel demonstrates its successful composting toilet system and organic garden practices.
